Bael tossed and turned in the flames untill Miriel put him out. He fell to the ground and and laid there for the moment. A deep sigh was let out and he stood up, "Three things Axel." He said as he brushed off dirt that was on what was left of his burned clothes. "1: We are friends, in a sick twisted kind of way, you just won't admit it." He didn't bother looking up because had lost all direction and placement of everyone. "2: You don't have to be over dramatic because I seriously don't plan on killing you anytime soon. If I wanted to do that, I would have sent word to you that your life was in danger. Then maybe wait two months and finish you then." As he brushed his clothes, bits and pieces fell off and Bael sighed more as he ripped off a big chunk of his snow jacked that he loved so much. "And 3: This was my favorite jacket man... I mean you don't see me burning your clothes. Heaven forbid I ever gain the power of Fire, but if I did I would just throw simple fireballs that you could easily block or ones that vanished before they hit you. But seriously!? My jacket man. We gotta work on your anger mister..." Bael said in a joking way. He patted his now open showing chest and just took his jacket off. The awkward silence was still over head and he felt as if all eyes were on him, "What?" He said, "I'm not taking my pants off for you if thats what you were waiting for."

Axel just stared at the brat incredulously, until finally just shaking his head and turning away. He didn't feel like wringing this kid's neck again. He knew that the demon just enjoyed toying with him, and he was very good at it. There were some things that just got under his skin without any struggle. Perhaps he did need to work on his anger. Axel took a detour, strolling through the foggy grass of these burial grounds. Apart from the obnoxious people that populated this normally desolate area, it was quite serene. Some may find it creepy, but he was the Guardian of Death, after all.
He looked over his shoulder, glancing back at Bael and Miriel. Miriel was quite the odd one. She basically had no restraint and was willing to throw herself into anything. That kind of attitude was something that would probably end in her death. Then again, it could be helpful. Other times, just plain annoying. He had many condradicting feelings about this elf girl, and he was sure she felt the same about him. There never was a middle ground on how he felt. One extreme or the other. Something, however, drew him to her, and other things repelled him. He plopped down against a smoothsided tombstone that was inconveniently placed on a slight hill. He read the inscription, not recognizing the name. He figured it must have been a governor, or someone else of high rank. Well, it didn't matter much now. All of the notoriety in the world wouldn't make him decay any slower. The ways people judge others are quite useless.

Miriel glared at Bael and replied, "You have some nerve, you know, and absolutely no manners..Don't think that everyone is in love with you, because they aren't." She turned from him and was suddenly reminded why she had been wandering for so long, avoiding any interaction if she could help it.
Her slender hand reached up and brushed some of the stray hairs behind her ear. The moonlight was full and shining down on them all, bathing them in it's pure pallid light. This place had a different feel, something that made you uncomfortable, yet calmed you. Her hair shone like gold that had been refined to it's up most purity. For some reason the light from the moon seemed to gather around her, perhaps it was because she had power over light, she wasn't sure, but after her fathers death light seemed to follow in her footsteps. "Such a place, so many people, yet it still remains lonely." Reaching out she ran her finger over the top of a gravestone. "It's as if the spirits are reaching out to be with you, to love and feel once more, and you reach out to be with them. Yet there is a impregnable barrier between you." She sighed slightly as she stared at the tombstone. "What a place."

Bael looked up at Miriel and listened to what she had to say. A small silence grew until she spoke again. "Yea I suppose so. I don't know if this is creepy or not, but most of the people in here I've killed. I'm not one to drop my guard easily, but here I seem overwhelmed with the felling of protection that I drop my guard here and I'm not the one to be paranoid either, but when I'm in here, I feel them watching me." The tone of depression slightly touched his voice as he was facing the ground. "Am I really a terrible person Miriel?" He asked. "I mean, I do have regrets and I know as I learned to turn invisible I went on killing sprees, but I look back and its hard because all of their face are burned into my memory." His voice was getting shakey. "I just need a friend and me and Axel, whether he agrees to it or not, are almost the same. Except for the blindness." A silence covered the area. Bael shot his head up and turned around. "Don't think of me as a mere weakling either. I could kill again. It's a bit easier now that I don't have to see their faces..." He stalked off almost parallel to the direction Axel took. Soon enough he passed Axel and didn't even glance in his direction. All that had escaped from Bael's mouth was, "Holding a grudge isn't healthy, even for you..." Bael continued on his way, out of the cemetery.

Axel watched Bael go with narrowed eyes. He laughed humorlessly. "If keeping grudges isn't healthy, I'd be dead by now." As Bael left, Axel still sat in thought. Even if he wishes to think I am like him, we are quite different. He kills on his own. I have no choice to take the lives that are placed in my hands. KIlling and savoring the soul are two different things, something I couldn't expect him to understand. He glanced up at Miriel and then the full moon; it seemed to be a perfect setting for this place. "So, you understand the feeling." He grunted as he shifted his position to stand up, wobbling slightly due to the weight of his wings. He cursed them under his breath then resumed to straighten himself out.
After balancing his not-so-graceful self, his eyes bored into her, trying to figure out what she was about. "You are a creature of light, and surely not an ally of mine, and yet you see the same way I do.." It was an interesting concept. He figured that after leaving this place he'd feel like a total idiot for not chasing both of them off in the first place. For now, however, he was content to ponder this strange theory.

"Wait!" Miriel ran forward and reached out, her slender hand touching the small shoulder of Bael. "Bael...I do not judge others by the past, I do not care what you have done, but what you will do. Even though your past is spotted, your future is as white as freshly fallen snow. It is your choice whether it should remain spotless or if it will be stained with deeds. But do not think that I do not care about the past, for it would be foolish to ignore it. I do not doubt that you could kill me right now as quick as a blink of an eye. But I trust that you won't, after all you did save me once." She smiled down at the boy. Who would have thought that this innocent looking boy could have done so much. Looks indeed are deceiving.
Then Axel spoke, Miriel turned, releasing Bael to do whatever he wanted to, and to go where ever he wished. She stayed silent for a moment, thinking how to respond. "Just because I am a creature of light, doesn't mean that I don't know darkness. I have seen my fill of darkness, yet it is my job to shine out like the stars and the moon at night. Giving light to the hopeless and strength to the weak. Yes, light knows darkness, but chooses to be different. But not all light is good, for there is a light that blind you and there is a light that comforts you. That is a choice I have to make, who am I going to be, the light that blinds the person into submission, or the light that gentle comforts those that need it. As for your ally....I am an ally to all who try and save this world, and try to do good. I believe that you are trying your hardest to save this world. For how could you appreciate life if there is no death, or how can you appreciate light if there is no darkness. Though we may have different roles, they play a big part in this world, and in the lives of others. We are merely the flip side of the coin, perhaps if we understand that though we are different sides, we are still on the same coin, there will be peace." Miriel's blue eyes shone as she looked at Axel, yet there was something in her eyes, something of experience that betrayed that she had seen her share of life and lived through it. A gentle and pure smile crossed her lips and gave her face such a look of innocence and purity it was like an angels. Her heart was shining through her at this moment, and for once she had opened up and really said what was on her mind. She was looking kindly on Axel, like he was an old friend of some sort.

Axel listened quietly as Miriel continued to explain herself to him. He wasn't really looking for a long explanation, but he was curious enough to take it all in. When she had concluded and smiled at him in such an unfamiliar way, he felt the sudden heat on his chest. His vision flashed red, as did his eyes. He looked down, shaking his head, and chuckled. "Hopefully I'm not wrong about this." The feeling had come from his own emotion, that much he knew. But why here, why now, was a mystery to him. Perhaps, he thought, She has just revealed her heart to me. He took two steps forward, his amulet held between his palms. "But I don't think I am."
He gave her a knowing look, hoping that she'd understand. "Miriel, elven maiden of the Light." When he spoke, his voice echoed around the cemetery's foggy air. "You have given me faith that your potential has yet to be uncovered. In order to bring it to its full, I hereby give you the power of the Light Guardian." When his eyes locked onto hers, they flashed red, then hers flashed blue in return. His amulet and blade of the scythe glowed for a moment, then faded back to their normal state. He stepped back, then added, "Now, of course, this isn't official quite yet. It's more of a trial version. It's just tradition and regulation that it is seen how you handle this new given responsibility before it is actually yours." With a devious grin, he admitted, "And Raphael's really the one who's supposed to appoint you, but I didn't feel like waiting." His decision felt like the right one. She seemed like the ideal to be a protector of this world.

Miriel looked at Axel as he spoke out loud to himself, a chuckle came from him, which was not an unpleasant thing to hear. As he addressed her as Maiden of light a suddenly strange feeling surrounded her. For a moment her vision went blue, sending her into slight confusion. His words seemed to fill her ears and thoughts.
"You have given me faith that your potential has yet to be uncovered. In order to bring it to its full, I hereby give you the power of the Light Guardian."
A great weight seemed to descend on her shoulders and she wavered for a moment. But then the weight seemed to disappear and power surged through her, filling her with warmth. "For some reason this whole thing feels right.. like it was meant to be.." She closed her eyes for a moment, as she felt the power stop, savored the lingering warmth. She felt free, like a weight had been lifted, everything about her felt alive with energy. Opening her eyes she noticed that slowly her vision faded back to normal and the glow on Axel's Scythe fade.
A bright smile lighted her face as she gazed at Axel. for a moment she didn't know what to say. "Thank you. this means a lot to me." Her musical laughter filled the air as he mentioned Raphael. "I don't suspect you do. So what should I do first?" For some reason she felt closer to Axel

Axel rubbed his hand under his chin. "I suppose we should seek out Raphael. I'd tell you to do it yourself, but I want to see the look on his face when he hears that I appointed you instead of him." He smirked just thinking about it. He paced slightly; it helped him think. "After that, I suppose he'll want to take you through some tests, training, etcetera, etcetera... I get bored just talking about it.." He thought back to his own time of proving himself, something he did not willingly do. Sure, it was boring and tedious, but at least he got the chance to take out his anger by blowing stuff up and other things of that destructive nature.
A slight wind was whistling through the air continuously, making the chains on his wings shiver like wind chimes. He cursed them a few times quietly, then looked back up at Miriel. "Just be thankful that these aren't part of your initiation," he said, gesturing at his wings. He felt the reason it got him so irritated whenever the chains would shiver was because it always reminded him of the day he had recieved, or more like sprouted, them. They certainly weren't a gift, he thought.
The memory flooded back to him so easily. It was the most prominent thing of his past. It had been the day after he turned 18, the becoming of a man. He was cringing on the ground, sweating profusely and crying out for someone to help him. His mother had desperately tried to reach out to him, but black shadowy figments of hands drew her away in fear. He could feel a strange burning sensation running throughout his back, and he knew he should have never tried to run away from the fate he knew was inescapable. Suddenly, something ripped through his skin. He howled with the pain of it, when black feathers began to spurt from his back, flying everywhere. Within a second or two, massive black wings had fully emerged from within his back, and the burning subsided. He glanced wearily back at them, too worn out to stand. A dark light engrossed them, shaping into the form of chains. They became real, weighing him down more than he thought possible. The shadowy shape of a man with a scythe in his hand called out, "You tried to escape what you could never run away from forever. This is the price you pay."
When Axel jolted back out of his memory, he realized that he had begun to sweat almost as profusely as he had that day. Hesitantly he untied his black bandana, wiping his face with it and then shoving it into his one of many pockets. What was behind the bandana was a deep, hideous scar that stretched from his cheek to the opposite side of his chin. He had forgotten entirely that Miriel was standing a few feet from his front.

Blue eyes searched the face of the man before her. He seemed to be lost in memories, his eyes showed raw pain and horror as he stood there. The sudden change from him telling her about Raphael and this was shocking. Sweat started to bead on his forehead as her eyes just stared into the distance. What had this man lived, what had he been through? A rising sense of pity welled in her bosom, but she pushed it away, Axel wouldn't appreciate that.
Axel's eyes still had the feverish terror but he seemed to have snapped out of it. Taking off the cloth that wrapped around the bottom of his face it revealed a scar, one like she had never seen before. At first shock registered on her face, for it certainly wasn't pleasent to look at but then she regained her composure. "What happened..." Her voice was soft as she looked at him. What could have caused such a scar.

Black Ankh didn't care about anything right about now. She stood in her family's grave and stared at her baby sister's one. She didn't cry though. She just sighed and thought of what should she do. I'm the Governess of Darkness, for pity's sake! I should be getting vengence right now! she then started to have second thoughts. And what? Just killing those humans who killed my family over nothing? her heart began to beat faster and faster now. She couldn't bear the pain almost unleashing from her. I just can't believe they're gone.... she kept thinking and all the pain was like if daggers were all striking at her heart right now.

Axel jolted with shock as he realized what she was referring to. How could he have been so careless as to let her see that. He quickly pulled his wing in front of his face. He could feel his face burning with a dangerous mixture of anger and embarrassment. "Nothing that concerns you," he barked more fiercely than he had intended. He turned away from Miriel and stood in silence for a few moments before sighing and shoving his hand into his pocket. He pulled out the bandana and smoothed it out between his hands. He turned back to her, his scar completely exposed. "...Sorry. I don't like to be asked about it, so I freak whenever someone does."
With fumbling fingers he managed to get the bandana back around the bottom half of his face. "When you tell me your deepest, worst secrets, then maybe I'll consider telling you how I got it." That pretty much kept anyone from asking about it ever again. Axel felt a dark presence somewhere else in the graveyard. He glanced around until he saw a strange looking girl standing stiff by a family grave. "Hm. This is the most visitors this place has ever gotten in a day."

Miriel took a step back when he snapped at her. Behind his wing his face was flushed slightly, as if he was embarrassed. For once she was speechless, the sudden flip of emotions was mind boggling. She noticed his shoulders sag a bit as he let out a breath, releasing his frustration. What memory was this scar a testimont to that caused such pain in Axel?
"When you tell me your deepest, worst secrets, then maybe I'll consider telling you how I got it."
Miriel just smiled wryly, not looking at his scar but looking deep into his eyes. Her golden head nodded slightly in answer. The figure of a girl, standing in darkness beside a grave made Miriel gaze at her with pity. She knew exactly what this girl was going to. So smiling at her she found her tongue and responded to Axel, "Maybe it's because you're here." She tossed him a playful look before looking at the girl.

Black Ankh wiped the tireness from her eyes. She knew that weeping was a sign of weakness and didn't want to do it. Before she left, she got down on her knees facing all the graves of her family. She placed a rose on each one and especially her baby sister's. Everyone's against me, she thought. After she was done she got up and turned away. She then saw Axel, the Guardian of Death and an elf beside him. Would they understand my pain? she wondered. She wanted to find more of her kind or other Magical users just to be with. She turned away and lowerered her head.

"Wait!" miriel called out to the irl by the grave. She had watched with sad eyes her put the roses at gravestones. "They must have been family.." She smiled sadly and walking toward her said, 'We didn't mean to watch.. We were just surprised by your presence.." She looked down at the gravestones sadly and read the inscriptions. With a deep sigh she murmured, "I also know what it is like to lose family." Miriel's eyes looked into the girls with deep understanding. bowing slightly she said lightly, "I'm Miriel." waving toward Axel she replied, 'And i'm sure you know who that is."
