Ebony looked at him curiously. Who could he be looking for? It seemed that a feeling of sadness was behind those words, but she didn't question him about it. She laughed tiredly, replying, "Well it certainly wasn't easy. I had to take the longer way, since the shorter route was filled with way too many obstacles. Carrying it was hard enough on its own." She looked down at the pot. It was starting to crack around the edges, and the clay wasn't fully smoothed out.
Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it had such sentimental value that it was the only thing she could never get rid of. Her mother had crafted it herself; it was her first attempt. "Thank you very much.." She felt her heart flutter when he looked at her. There was something about him that captivated her, unless it was just the fact that she hadn't seen a man like him most of her life.

Apollo laughed with her and he stood there as she gazed at the pot with a reflective look in her eyes. Though Apollo knew nothing about her he could see that who eve this belonged to or whoever this was, meant something important to this girl.
As he glanced at the girl he couldn't help but let his gaze linger for a moment. There was something about her, the way the sunlight hit her chestnut hair, causing it to have a slight glow to it. There was something fresh about her, something that made him forget how old he was, or even about anything at all. He was caught in the moment and that was a change. A crooked smile came to his lips as his blue eyes met hers. But before he could get lost in them he tore his eyes away and gazed at the sun. "She's so young....if she knew how old you were she wouldn't look at you that way." Even though he wasn't reading her thoughts he could feel the slightest sensation of something that was just a hair above liking.
"Well It is starting to get late..." He looked at Coventina, trying not to think about the presence of the girl beside him, " If you will excuse me...I think I might escort this lady home.. that is if she doesn't refuse." He smiled again as he looked at Ebony.

((TOO LAZY!))
Ebony could feel her face reddening at his offer. She tried to hide it by turning away and looking at the rainberry bushes intently. "N-no, that would be fine," she stuttered, feeling like a clumsy idiot. Standing up, she straightened out her clothing and looked back at the direction of her home. The light was just barely fading, a sign that there would be no darkness in their sky tonight. She thought about her father and how much struggle he must be going through.
"It's.. this way." She gestured awkwardly towards her home. Thinking about her father always unnerved her. It was something that she didn't like to bring up, or remember. It had been a long time since she'd seen him, but his face was still clear in her mind. She hoped it would stay that way for as long as they had to be seperated. Quietly she began to shuffle toward her home.

Apollo looked back at the others trying to figure out why he was escorting her home. How had those words come out of his mouth? Her nervousness and embarrassment caused butterflies to come into his stomach slightly, the slight pink tone to her cheeks just added to her face a quiet innocence that was attracting. " You need to calm down, just deliver the pot and leave.. that's all that is asked for...she is just a girl and won't be any different than the others that broke your heart. Don't get attached again.. for you never will grow old but her....." He pushed the though aside, he wouldn't treat her any different than any other girl. After all she wasn't different than the others was she? Deep inside he knew that it was hopeless.
Nodding to Ebony he said cheerfully as if it was just another day in his life, not revealing what was deep within. "I hope we meet again." He said to the remaining two and then started off behind Ebony, though soon he was walking beside her. "The sun always shines here doesn't it. This place...is different than all the others isn't it. Full of light, darkness doesn't seem able to touch this place."

Ebony was looking down at her feet, feeling guilty that he was carrying her pot all the way home for her. She looked up at him, for he was much taller than she, and replied quietly, "Yes, I hope so too." She walked beside him in silence for a few moments, trying to gather her thoughts. Was he trying to get at something? She ignored the thought and answered sadly, "Yes, it is.. We used to have the darkness at the latest of hours, but lately.." She glanced up at the sky.
"Lately there has been no darkness at all." Ebony began to spill out information about the changing conditions. "Even if this is a place mainly of light, there must be some darkness. Or else the rivers and plants would die off. Something about the balance isn't right. I don't know what it would take to set it straight again..." The missing elements, she thought, would do the trick. Everything was on such a level of unsurity.

Apollo's looked at her as she began to talk about what was wrong. Apollo remembered when there had been darkness here. That was long ago when the guardians were still at peace with each other.
Something about the balance isn't right. I don't know what it would take to set it straight again..."[/b]" Apollo was astonished when she had said this. So the problem was getting so bad that even normal people were recognizing it. "Poor Axel.." Apollo thought as he began to reply. " The balance you say... Yes I would say that everything has been off balance for a long time... to long of a time." He smiled slightly but then continued quickly. "I wonder how long it's been like this though...seems as though everything is just getting worse. Perhaps things will work out..."
For the sake of this world it better" Apollo thought to himself as he attempted to change the subject. " Phew, where did you get this pot? it's as heavy as a boulder, though.. I doubt the berries help." Really the pot weighted nothing to him. Though the slight bit of sweat that was beading on his brow was more from the draining of his energy than from strain.

Ebony frowned and bit her lip as he commented on the balance of this world. "Many, many years.." she muttered, mostly to herself. She smiled sheepishly and replied, "My mother hand-crafted it. As you can probably tell, she wasn't exactly a professional." She ran her hand over the bumpy surface. Looking up at him to make sure it wasn't too much, she saw the signs of sweat on his face. "Are you okay..?" she asked, worried that she had asked too much of him, especially when they had just met. The trek home was a long one, but it didn't have too many discomforts on the way.
She thought about her home, how cozy and secluded it was. It did get lonely at times, but she enjoyed living in a place that never did change much. The routine was comfortable for her.

Apollo smiled brightly and replied to her worried question, "I'm fine. Don't worry about it. It really isn't that heavy. Well that might be a bit of a lie, but it isn't to much of a trouble." He laughed lightly, "Don't worry about little old me." He winked at her "I have had much heavier work to do, believe me."
"So your mom made this? She did great! A lot better than what I could have done. In fact...If I had done it it probably would have come out as...." He thought for a moment as he tried to describe how it would have looked. "It would have been indescribable that what it would have looked like."
"So did your mother send you out to pick berries?" Apollo said this without knowing that he would most likely touch an open wound.

Ebony smiled brightly. She enjoyed his cheery disposition. It was certainly a change from the people she was normally surrounded by. She tried to picture an indescribable pot, but after all, it was indescribable. "Haha, well surely it couldn't be that bad."
His last question hit right at home. She tried to get herself to answer, her mouth trying to form the words. "Well, actually I don't... have a mother..," she replied softly. "She was killed when I was younger." When she spoke this, her voice trembled slightly. She had enough control to hold back any tears; she had learned to cope with this over the years. It still hurt to be asked so blatantly about her mother.

Apollo realized that he had unconsciously hit a sore spot for the girl beside him. He didn't say anything for a while, because quite frankly he had nothing to say. But finally he realized that he had to say something, no matter how weak it sounded. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know...Forgive my ignorance..[/i]" Looking away at the beautiful surrounding he tried to change the subject.
"It sure is beautiful here.." His voice was gentle and tender as he glanced back at Ebony, who was holding back tears. "It must be a nice place to live."
"So she lives all alone in a house..I don't dare ask about her father. What if he has joined her mother. No I better not ask..." The thoughts ran through his mind and he tried his best not to pity her. She didn't seem like she was the type girl who liked being pitied.

Ebony glanced down at the ground as they continued walking toward her home. "It's fine. I understand." The silence that filled the next few moments was comfortable for her. She needed those few moments to gather her thoughts. She looked back up at him as he commented about the land. "It certainly is beautiful.."
She shrugged, saying, "I wouldn't know. I often don't come to the river. It's much too far of a walk. Back where I live, however, parts of it are very beautiful.." She paused, thinking about the history of parts of her land. "And others aren't." She shook away the dark thoughts immediately, not wanting to dampen the mood. "Have you never traveled these parts before..?" It seemed a bit odd that he wouldn't, unless he lived in the Lands of Death his whole life. That, however, was only half of this world. Who would want to only see half of a place so vast and beautiful?

"Yes I have actually....But it was a long time ago, much has changed." It seemed as though the longer he talked with her the more his barriers dropped, which was a nice thing for once. "You see I grew up in the lands of death..but I came here a lot when I was younger. But those lands of death are where I call home. Though, I don't think that they match this at all." He winked at her over the top of the pot.
"So what are you going to do with these berries? Every time I picked berries they would never make it all the way home. " His ever present laugh rang out as he thought about the memories.

Ebony thought about the Lands of Death. She had traveled around them some with her father, and she found them much too dark for her liking. "Yes, they have a bit too much of a dark aura for my liking..." As they walked, her eyes grazed over the area. The bright, mauve berries really caught her attention against the dark green leaves that stuck out everywhere. The rushing of the water was such a calm sound, and even the roaring of the waterfall seemed quaint and peaceful.
She did live in quite a beautiful place, and she was lucky to have as much as she did. She could be living in a small, cramped tavern in Sunshine Depths, but she had a wide open pasture that was all her own. There were only three other houses that she knew of, and they were a good distance away from hers. It felt almost like living in her own little world. The Pasture's natural atmosphere was always full of content and gentleness, which made it all the better.
Ebony laughed with him and explained, "Well it's best that I keep a good eye on these. They're my main food supply for the next few weeks. Along with whatever else I'm lucky to catch, that is." And luck was a huge part of it. She had never been a good hunter, so oftentimes her meals were made without any meat substance.

Apollo laughed at what she had said, "Yes, it can be a little dreary sometimes... but the nice thing about the darkness is that it makes you appreciate beauty and light all the more. Not only that but even in the darkest places you find little specks of light and beauty. Sometimes you don't realize what you have until you go without it for a while. " He smiled contently as he listened to her talk about the berries. "Then I'll keep my grubby paws off them. Though...." He shot her a playful glance and paused for a moment. Setting down the pot he popped one in his mouth. "They do look quiet good..." A mischievous grin spread across his face as he looked at her.
"Don't worry I'll catch you something tasty to eat to pay back for them..." He reached for another one of the berries.

Ebony pondered what he had said. Specks of light may be able to be found in some areas of darkness, but not every tunnel has a light at the end. There are some places that may be simply untouchable. She gasped dramatically as he began to eat her berries, swatting playfully at his hands. "You're as bad as the bears!" she exclaimed.
When he didn't stop eating them, she sighed with defeat and sat down beside him, taking some of her own. "You'd better be prepared to keep that promise," she warned him. The berries were quite good, just not as cool as they were supposed to be at this point of the season. They weren't as juicy, either. She supposed it was due to the fact that the temperatures hadn't exactly been what they were supposed to be. It was much more humid than normal.
