Raphael's eyes widened as Miriel took a swing directly at Sylfaen. He didn't think she could even be slightly aware of what she had just said. Even he could understand Sylfaen's feelings towards Axel. After all the beating his kingdom has taken during and after the war, it would be strange for Sylfaen to not want to kill Axel. They were directly affected in every situation, even if it wasn't publicized. Raphael scratched his head awkwardly. He sighed deeply. "I wish I knew, Miriel... I wish I knew.."
Sylfaen raised an eyebrow at this Miriel. She obviously had quite the strong will, he would give her that. As for judge in character, it was blatantly obvious that area was a little fuzzy. He glanced down at her hand that had been gently laid on his arm. Forward as well. Tundra snapped at the elf girl, but Sylfaen pinched her beak between his two fingers quickly enough. She pulled back and looked at him, thoroughly insulted. "No need for violence, miss Tundra." She cooed indignantly and turned away from him. He smirked at her little antics; she was such an intelligent creature. His face turned stone cold as he addressed Miriel.
"You misunderstand me. Even though I do possess a deep hatred for that man of Death, you must understand my motive for asking of his location. Kalos..." He paused after speaking his name, needing a moment to let reality sink in. "Kalos has a set number of targets, one of them being myself. Axel, however... He would be the first to be annhialated once given the chance. Axel knows more about Kalos than anyone could ever within this universe or the one below us." He looked her directly in the eye. "We are putting ourselves at a horrible disadvantage if we leave Axel unprotected. He is our only hope at finding a way to destroy Kalos."
Raphael scoffed at Sylfaen. "Why, it almost sounds as if you care for his safety."
Sylfaen's icy glare shifted to Raphael. "You misunderstand me as well. The only thing I care for is his knowledge on the subject. If it were within any other source, I would say we burn him at the stake. That however, is unfortunately not the case." His patience with Raphael was beginning to thin. The man could take any situation and make a mockery of it.

Miriel’s eyes looked at the owl who tried to bite her. But she was to weak right now to do anything about it. Luckily Sylfaen had taken care of that. As he talked she realized how wise he was, and yet stubborn in some ways. Even though he addressed her with a coldness that cooled her heart. Her eyes closed and she nodded. to him. “Sorry for the misunderstanding.. please forgive me.. I’m still..” She sighed. “New at this..”
Her eyes closed for a moment as she reached within her for strength, something to keep her standing. Every movement that she made sent pain curling up her side from the burns. It felt like someone was whipping her on her body everywhere. The only thing that kept her up was the thought of Axel. “Well then I guess we better search for him..” She looked from one to the other.
Even though her face was as white as a lilies, and she could barely stand straight she had a stubborn look on her face. She needed rest, badly, for that was the only way that she could regain her strength. Nevertheless she wasn’t going to just tell them to go and do the dirty work while she stayed and rested. No, she would have to be told to go and rest.
Stooping down she picked her sword up with a wince. Its edge was blackened with soot from Kalos touching it. She eyed it sourly, it would need to be cleaned, but it was sheathed anyways. Resting her hand on her hand on the hilt she held the other hand over her face, trying to make the migraine that was creeping up on her go away. After a moment she gave up and looked at Raphael, “Well are you guys just going to stand here all day?” Even though her voice was strong, she felt like she was going to be sick.

Raphael scratched the stubble on his chin, realizing he probably should have shaved a few days ago. There wasn't any time to worry about that now. Miriel was direct, too direct for his mind to keep up with. She always wanted action to be taken at that very moment, and in times like this, it wasn't quite the easiest thing to guarantee. Not to mention she looked like she was about to faint. Her face the color of Sylfaen's hair, she looked like she could fall over at any moment. He couldn't allow her to exert herself to the point of searching for a man who coud disappear off the face of the earth when he didn't want to be found. He shook his head at her regretfully.
"Miriel... I don't think I can allow you to come with us. I would feel like I would be letting down on my responsibility of protecting my comrades from harm. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you while we were searching." He smiled sadly at her, wanting her to understand his concern for her well-being. There was only one problem with this. Where could she go that she would be out of harm's way? Obviously this universe wasn't going to make the cut. Eldarwin would only be worse. "But where will you be safe in these crazy circumstances..? Perhaps Ebony would-"
Sylfaen cut him off, raising a hand. "That won't be necessary, Raphael." His clear, lightly glazed eyes turned to look upon Miriel, a slight smile playing on the corners of his lips. "Because she's welcome to stay with me." The shocked look on Raphael's face was quite amusing. Why was it always so shocking that he just happened to be generous? It was all these stereotype kings, ruining his image. All of the tyrannical reigns got all of the publicity. It was depressing, really. Even Tundra hooted in surprise.
He held up his hands defensively. "What, is it so shocking that I would open up my home for the well-being of a guardian? Honestly.." Raphael's facial expression turned to a mixture of embarrassment and humor. He chuckled lightly. He would do just about anything to save anyone from the wrath of Kalos. He had experienced it first hand, and it was about the closest thing to going through hell itself. She didn't deserve it, no one did. That is, except maybe Axel. This, however, was not the time for personal bias.
Raphael held onto Miriel's shoulder supportively incase she did run out of the strength to stand. "...Is that alright with you, Miriel?" he asked out of courtesy, knowing already that any offer as generous as this was not to be debated, unless you were an utter fool, which Miriel was not.

What Raphael had said seemed to go past Miriel. she heard but didn't quiet understand. She was trying so hard to stay strong. Though one thing did startle her, Sylfaen's generosity.
For the first time during the whole meeting Miriel's face brightened and the world around her seemed to brighten also. Her pale face seemed to shine as she looked at Sylfaen in a new light. Her blue eyes sparkled brightly and she managed a slight nod. "How.. can I ever repay you? The offer is to kind." She smiled at Raphael and then back at Sylfaen. To have someone that she had just met invite her to his palace, was overwhelming. So much so that she was glad that Raphael had held her by the shoulder. For in that instant she had felt dizzy.
She had passed through the taiga many times and had seen the castle glimmering faintly in the background. The thought of who it belonged to had always come to her mind. But she had never stopped to talk to the nymphs. After all they had seemed to sad, and at every traveler they looked up expectantly, only to be disappointed. Now it seemed that the castle would have new life in it.
"Thank you Lord Sylfaen..I don't know what to say." There would be a place that Kalos would hopefully not be looking for. Then again, lord Sylfaen had mentioned that he himself was a target. It seemed that they all were now and days. Perhaps they could both protect one another. Perhaps a new bond would be bound by this experiance, and new friends made.

Sylfaen's deep laugh rang out fully and purely. Miriel had such a pleasant, modest aura about her that made her wonderful company. He was sure he would never tire of this particular guest. It was clear why she had been chosen as the Guardian of Light. Everything about her gave off a sense of light, enjoyable happiness. She even tried to maintain a bright smile after enduring what must have been a torturous battle with Kalos. He could hardly believe she mustered enough strength to be standing on her own two feet. A remarkable woman, she was. He had a feeling her name would be honored, far beyond her Guardian years. "No need to say anything, my dear. You've expressed your gratitude to quite a satisfactory amount."
He smiled warmly at her, a side of himself that he liked to mask on official business. Sylfaen was one of the most kindhearted rulers to ever grace the kingdom of the ice nymph race. It was something he could rarely reveal; compassion was often seen as weakness, and could easily be taken advantage of by those who were less than allies. This situation, however, was entirely different. He was fully aware he was among friends, even if one of those friends was beginning to get on his last nerve. Raphael's personality clashed often enough with Sylfaen's, but yet when they put their heads together they produced some of the best results possible. This, however, was not the time to focus on such things. They needed to keep Miriel protected at all costs, that much was obvious. Sylfaen just hoped his home would be safe enough. It would be a disgrace to not only him, but to his people as a whole if he failed to protect such an essential person as Miriel.
Tundra was obviously not taking to this well. He could already tell she was seething beneath those gleaming white feathers of hers. Unquestionably, jealousy consumed that little fluffy body more than anything else. Attitude was not something his companion ever seemed to run out of. She would forgive him eventually. He addressed Raphael, saying, "Are you planning to go on a search for Axel while Miriel and I have a bit of relaxation time?"
Raphael chuckled. "No need to rub it in. And yes, that appears to be the plan as of now..." He looked behind Sylfaen, off towards the corridors. "I do hope nothing interferes..."
Sylfaen could just about see Raphael's mind beginning to drift. That man had the shortest attention span he had ever witnessed in his life. He touched Miriel lightly on the shoulder and whispered to her, "I suggest we depart before he begins rambling about whatever is going on in that jumbled up mind of his."

Miriel nodded to him. Rest, what a beautiful thing. Right now she knew she could just collapse into a bed and sleep for a week. Stepping away from Raphael and over to Sylfaen she nodded.
These two were interesting, it almost seemed like they were total opposites, but other times.. Well they seemed like an interesting pair of friends, one that never ceased to amuse. “I totally agree.” She whispered back with a smile. The usual excitement of seeing a new place built in her chest. This was a thing that she never could grow tired of. Travel. Seeing new people, new cultures always made Miriel have a brighter smile and a lighter step. A certain gleam came to her eyes, though weak in brightness, it just being there told that she would recover eventually.
Hopefully it would be something that wouldn’t take long, after all, she doubted that they would have much time to rest and relax. Looking at Aylfaen she blushed slightly, “Though I do think I will have to ask you to teleport me.. I don’t think I have enough energy at this time.” She smiled in a crooked shy way that spoke of her embarrassment of being so weak. Being usually so full of laugh and laughter, this feeling of weakness troubled not only others but herself. Silently she vowed to try to never be like this again.

Sylfaen smiled knowingly. "Do you really expect me to make a guest do the dirty work?" He felt something peck him sharply in the ear. His glance shifted over to Tundra, who was looking daggers at Miriel. He shook his head at her with disappointment. "Now, young lady, is that any way to treat our visitor?" All he got was a defiant hoot in response. Such a grumpy disposition she had. He heard quiet rambling from Raphael, and he couldn't make sense of any of it. He seemed to be on another planet entirely. Sylfaen sighed with exasperation. How that man ever became the Guardian of Life, he would never know. Pushing that aside, he decided it was time for them to depart. "Erm... Raphael...?"
Raphael jolted out of his trance. His head whipped around as he exclaimed, "Wha-wha?!" When he saw Sylfaen's confused expression, he smiled sheepishly. "Uh.. Yes.. Have a safe trip.." He waved them off, then continued on to walk out of the garden, trying to figure out what to do next.
Sylfaen began to wonder if he would ever uncover the mystery that was Raphael's mind. Without wasting another moment trying to figure out the impossible, he teleported Tundra, Miriel, and himself to the Taiga.

Miriel made sure she was on the opposite side of Sylfaen, the side without his owl. For some reason the owl made her a bit nervous, after all she didn't know that such a small animal could give such cooling glares.
Her eyes closed as she felt the now familiar sense of teleporting. It was exhilarating, yet tiring at the same time. Her eyes opened to see Raphael disappearing and a whiteness surrounding her.
He seemed so out of sorts lately, so distraught. There was nothing she could do in this condition. A feeling of helplessness descended on her in that split second. What part was she going to play in this world? everything seemed so.. distant.
