Apollo sat in the burning sands, tired, weary. Darkness had filled his soul, he was missing what mattered most and had lost everything. Yet as he sat there with head in his hands, he felt empty and confused. He had seen Axel, but he couldn’t let Axel see him like this.. no, Axel had enough on his hands. Couldn’t this heat just take him, put an end to everything? That lady… if he could se her again, he would kill her. She was the problem to everything, she was. He must go against her. Though inside he knew he couldn’t.
Mairead wandered aimlessly in the desert, bored to tears. She hadn’t had fun until after that dark angel had been taking a dip in the stream. A sigh passed her lips, until she saw a figure in the sand. He seemed distracted and distraught. Perfect. Her mouth curved in to a evil smile as she came closer. He was wickedly handsome, to handsome infact. Well this was the first time she had seen a guy like this. “Cheer up droopy, you look like someone hit you with an iron skillet. ” No response.“Come on wimp, can’t you hear me? Or are you deaf and dumb? Heh probably crying because you lost your way home. Get off your sorry little butt and start acting like a man.”
“Leave me be.” Apollo replied
Leaning down she looked into his eyes for a moment. “Sorry I didn’t hear you, can you say it louder?” No response again. Wake up sleepyhead.” Reaching out she slapped him hard across the face.
Apollo got up with a start, as the burning sensation jerked him out of his thoughts. Hand on a knife, unsheathed it and held it out in front of him.”I said leave me be!” He hadn’t realized how close she had been, for when he had pulled it out in front of him he had thrust it deep into her chest.
Mairead let out a little choking gasp as the front of her white dress a red mark appeared. Pain seared through her, tearing at her chest. She hadn’t expected him to act like that, though she had really pushed all the wrong buttons without knowing it. She had now learned the lessons of messing in others business, but a little to late for her. Her legs felt weak all of a sudden and she collapsed down on all fours. “Why……why’d you do that..” She gasped for breath as the world about her swirled . “I was only….playing..” A stream of blood came from her lips as she coughed and then collapsed fully on the ground. The sand was soaked in blood, and it was seeping it up as quickly as it could. No longer was her dress white, and it was now stained and splotched with red. Red, like a rose.
Apollo stared in astonishment at the girl he had just murdered, if not by accident. He had meant to just frighten her off, but now.. now…. He gathered the girl in his arms and tears fell from his eyes. The tears were not there because of sorrow for what he had done, but rather, for the lack of feeling. Murderer! Abandoner! The words rang in his head and his eyes closed. There he was, rocking a girl that looked like a white lilly in his arms. “ I’m sorry, so sorry..”
“No you aren’t.” Her voice rasped as the old mischief crept into her faint, quavering smile,. Then she went limp, blackness was all that was left for the girl.
She was right, Apollo wasn’t sorry, though he knew he should have been. Rocking her back and forth in his arms he heard Ebony’s words ringing in his ears. “ "Let's get one thing straight, bud! My father has worked his butt off for people like you so that you have stable ground to walk on every day of your shallow, ungrateful life! Don't you even dare try to put yourself above him!"” She was right… So people like him could have stable ground to walk on. Perhaps this guardian war was what was supposed to happen, so all the people like him would be cleansed off this world.
After a minute or two Apollo stood up and left the girl on the ground. Not even bothering to take the knife out of Mairead he turned away. Blood covered his shirt and hands, but he didn’t even care enough to wash it off. He had to get away from here, Axel would bee here soon, and that was the last person Apollo wanted to see. So his feet carried him off, where? Even Apollo didn’t know.
